Pune’s Serum Institute ties up with Gates Foundation to deliver 10 Crore vaccines to 92 countries

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will provide US $ 150 million funding to Gavi through its Strategic Investment Fund.

Pune: Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) has reported that they have accelerated the production and delivery of 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to 100 million doses of Gov, and Bill and Melinda to countries including India have made a new partnership with the Bill Gates Foundation.

SII owner and CEO Adar Poonawalla tweeted on Friday, “I would like to thank Bill Gates, Gates Foundation and Gavi for their significant partnership for manufacturing 100 million doses, at affordable prices in many countries around the world will ensure its reach.”

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will provide US $ 150 million funding to Gavi through its Strategic Investment Fund. This funding will be used by the Serum Institute to produce a potential vaccine. The potential Covid-19 vaccine produced by SII is likely to be available to at least 92 countries.

SII said in the statement, “This funding will support AstraZeneca and Novavax vaccine during manufacture if these vaccines are successful in obtaining a license from World Health Organization(WHO) and are available for purchase.” It is known that the country’s Drug Regulator- Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had already given permission to Serum Institute to conduct Phase 2 and Phase 3 for human clinical trials of a possible vaccine for corona infection.
