Swathed in pastel shades, this couple’s sundowner beach wedding was a serene one with a minimalistic wedding mandap.

Ria, an investment banker and Anubhav, who works in FMCG sales, wedding in Goa was a breezy one brimming with personal touches that reflected their interests. Captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Jumping Souls who used their skills to photograph the beauty of the union, this wedding was a fun journey to the very end.

How They Met
Ria shares, “Anubhav and I met at IIM Lucknow on the very first day of our Masters. Over time our friendship grew and evolved into something that has brought us to this day.”

Ria recollects, “A majority of our relationship was spent apart after our graduation due to the pandemic restrictions and working in different cities. So, Anubhav decided to plan a surprise 25th birthday party for me in Lonavala along with my sister. And it was there, at midnight, that he decided to pop the question after taking all due permissions from our parents and I had absolutely no clue at all!”

Wedding Planning
Ria shares, “Since both of us have extremely busy work schedules it was very critical for us to pick professionals who could understand and execute our vision with minimal supervision and that we could trust that our goals are aligned.” And, keeping this in mind, they chose Jumping Souls who captured the most precious moments of their lives, “We are not people who take a lot of photos or even like to pose for them, so goal number one for us while looking for a perfect photography team was candid photography. Jumping Souls focuses on candid photography and some traditional posed photography The best part about them was they know how to make people laugh – which yields very natural-looking happy faces. Anubhav’s side of the family had their schedule jam-packed with rituals and little room for traditional photography so candids were very very important to us along with the quality. We had a great experience working with Jumping Souls. They’re a professional team that makes you feel very comfortable – and the output speaks for itself in terms of quality.”

Describing their vision for the wedding, she goes on to add, “One personal touch that was important to us was a Manchester United backdrop. Anubhav is a huge fan of the club and I wanted to incorporate that into our wedding somehow. I had also arranged for one of my cousins flying from the UK to bring an original Ronaldo 7 Manchester United jersey as a wedding gift to Anubhav – something he had wanted to have for a long time.”

Wedding Functions
Tilak and Mehndi
For the tilak and mehndi events, the couple kept it simple and intimate. Handing the reigns completely over to their planners, they instead, focussed on having fun as they kicked off the festivities.

Haldi was brimming with bright hues. Ria shares, “The brief we gave for the decor here was quite simple! The guests will be dressed in yellow while the decor would include vivid colours that would look beautiful against the beauty of nature.”

Ria shares, “This was the most critical event among all as it had a full attendance from the guests, an open bar, and planned performances by our relatives and friends. In terms of decor, this had to be the brightest and blingy event without being extravagant, as our personal tastes are fairly simple and minimal. We went with a Moroccan theme decor with royal purple accents and a lot of warm lighting to brighten the place up, and everything was executed to the T! The sangeet indeed was the key highlight for us of the entire weekend.”

Wedding and Reception
For the beachside wedding, the couple favoured pastel hues that complemented their outfits and the sky. A sundowner ceremony, the wedding was followed by a red-carpet-themed reception where the guest put their most stylish foot forward and the decor followed a grey and emerald colour palette.

Advice For Couples
Ria shares, “Define your priorities for your wedding: if you’re on a budget, define what you are okay with letting go of and what you’re not – we had a clear priorities order while allocating our budget hence we went for the venue first which is the largest expense head. Subsequently, we finalized all our professionals – event/decor, photography, make-up and henna. This gave us a clear idea of how much we were spending on the actual event. Basis this understanding, we decided how much we could splurge on our clothes and other whims, where we could cut down and couldn’t.
Secondly, do not compromise on your photographers and make-up artists. Another point that you will have to keep in mind is that high-quality professionals will come at a cost. Be prepared for it and you wouldn’t regret your decisions. Additionally, for brides especially, you’ll spend a lot of time getting ready or putting henna or having your make-up done and just being in a chair – these two professional teams are the ones that actually keep you company.”
