Gmail is down globally, users report being unable to send emails and attach files

Several users are also complaining about issues connecting to some of the Google services like Google Drive, Google Doc. But most users are facing issues with Gmail.

Today Gmail is down for several users. The email service is not working properly globally. Users are complaining that they are unable to send emails along with attachments to emails. We tried to send an email with file attachment but Gmail showed error.

It has been over an hour that people across the world are facing this issue. Google commented on this issue saying, “We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:39 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.”

Many users are complaining that they are facing some kind of technical issue as they are unable to send mails to attach any sorts of files to the emails. People tried sending an email with attachment but it didn’t work. The mail was sent without the attachment. The error displayed “the operation couldn’t be completed”.

Several users are also complaining about issues connecting to some of the Google services like Google Drive, Google Doc. But most users are facing issues with Gmail. Google’s app status page shows issues with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Groups, Google Docs, Google Keep, and Google Voice.

DownDetector is showing that the problem occurred around 9:30 am IST today. The issue is being faced mainly by Japan and half part of India.

Gmail down looks like half of India and most of Japan.

It is not clear what caused the issue right now and why Gmail is down, but it has caused troubles for many because many people are working from home and this is one of the few most reliable ways to communicate.
