Ganesha Chaturthi 2020: Know date, time, and how to perform worship-rituals for Lord Ganesha

The Ganesh festival will start from August 22, every year, the enthusiasm and joy of Bappa’s arrival was worth seeing, but due to Corona, Bappa’s arrival has also faded this year. Ganapati’s place in Sanatana Dharma is very special, He is also called as Vighnaharta.

This year, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Chaturthi i.e. 22 August. The establishment of Ganapati and worshiping them on this 10-days festival has special significance. However, during this time it is said that one should not even see the moon. Seeing the moon on this day is not considered auspicious. Visiting the moon at night on the 22nd may cause false stigma (Mithya kalank).

What to offer to Bappa

In the morning, collect all the material of worship by getting involved with the ritualistic acts. After this, choose the right direction and set up the post there. After this Ganeshji should be given a panchamrit and then a bath with Ganga’s water. Then establish a statue of Ganesha by putting a red cloth on the place. Put one betel nut (Supari) on each side of the statue as Riddhi-Siddhi. After this, apply silver work by applying vermilion to Ganeshji. Then offer other ingredients including janeu, red flower, durva, modak, and coconut. Keep in mind that Tulsi Dal and Tulsi Patra should not be offered to Sri Ganesh. Instead, offer Ganapati Bappa from a purified place to the chosen Durwa, which has been washed properly.

Offering rice, vermilion(Sindur), saffron(Kesar), turmeric, sandalwood(Chandan), molly, and cloves, Durva is very important in worship. It is said that Ganesh Puja is not complete without this. Offer Dakshina to Lord Ganesha and offer Him 21 laddus. Five laddus should be distributed with Ganeshji, and the rest should be distributed.

Perform Ganpati Mantras and Aarti:

Chant Ganesha mantra ‘गजाननं भूतगणादिसेवितं कपित्थजम्बूफलचारु भक्षणम्ं। उमासुतं शोकविनाशकारकं नमामि विघ्नेश्वरपादपङ्कजम्।।’ with incense, lamps, and incense sticks after the installation and worship of Ganesha and after that perform Aarti of Ganpati Maharaj.
