Australian fast-bowler Daniel Sams to replace England’s opener Jason Roy at Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020

The joining of the Sams in the squad will also diversify the Delhi Capitals fast bowling attack as its main team consists of only right-arm fast bowlers.

Australia’s left-arm fast bowler Daniel Sams will replace England opener Jason Roy in the Delhi Capitals squad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) to be held in the UAE from 19 September. Daniel Sams, who is still awaiting his international debut, was the most successful bowler in the Big Bash League last year. Roy has been ruled out of the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan due to a hamstring strain on the left side, due to which he will not be able to participate in the IPL either.

The joining of the Sams in the squad will also diversify the Delhi Capitals fast bowling attack as its main team consists of only right-arm fast bowlers.

On joining the Delhi Capitals team, Sams said, “The IPL is a great platform for any cricketer and we all keep a close watch on this tournament every year at home.” He said, “I am lucky to be a part of this game and I am thankful to the management of Delhi Capitals that they gave me this opportunity.”

I can’t wait to join the rest of the players in the UAE. Delhi Capitals also include Australia’s Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey. Sams made headlines during the Big Bash League last year when they took 30 wickets in 17 matches for Sydney Thunders. The quarantine period of players in UAE is just over and soon you will see players of all teams practicing the net.
