PM Modi pays tribute to former Union Minister Arun Jaitley Ji on his first death anniversary
Today is the first death anniversary of former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's stalwart leader Arun Jaitley.

Today is the first death anniversary of former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s stalwart leader Arun Jaitley. On this day, last year, he said goodbye to this world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Arun Jaitley on his first death anniversary. Apart from PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and many other veteran leaders have remembered him today.
This is to inform you that Arun Jaitley died on 24 August last year. Earlier in May 2018, Jaitley underwent a kidney transplant in the US. After this Jaitley also went to America for treatment. Jaitley was born on 28 December 1952 in a Punjabi Hindu Brahmin family and his father Maharaj Kishan was a lawyer by profession.
Arun Jaitley has been a member of BJP’s national executive since 1991. He was made BJP spokesperson just before the 1999 Lok Sabha elections. He was appointed Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Information Broadcasting on 13 October 1999 by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the NDA government.
He was appointed Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Disinvestment, creating a new ministry for the first time. After the resignation of Ram Jethmalani, on 23 July 2000 Jaitley was given the additional charge of Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs. In November 2000, he was given the status of a cabinet minister and the Law, Justice and Company Affairs as well as the Ministry of Shipping.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted, ‘On this day last year we lost Arun Jaitley. I miss my friend very much. Arun Ji diligently served India. He had great intelligence, legal skills, and personality. ‘

While Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, ‘Arun Jaitley Ji was an excellent politician, skilled orator and a great human being who had no similarities in Indian politics. Apart from this, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party has also saluted Arun Jaitley on his first death anniversary.
