He was being treated at the Army Research and Referral Hospital at Delhi Cantt. This morning it was reported from the hospital that he was under septic shock due to a lung infection.

Mukherjee, 84, was in a deep coma and was put on ventilator support. Blood pressure stops working in the event of a septic shock and body parts fail to get enough oxygen. He was admitted to the military hospital in Delhi Cantt on 10 August. Earlier, his corona report also came positive.

Mukherjee underwent an operation after a blood clot formed in his brain. He was also found infected with Covid-19 at the time of hospitalization. He then had respiratory infections. Mukherjee served as the 13th President of India from the year 2012 to 2017. Former President Mukherjee has two sons and a daughter in his family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while condoling the death, Mukherjee said that the whole country is sad today. He tweeted, ‘The whole nation is mourning the death of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development path of our nation. He was acclaimed across the political spectrum and by all sections of society. ‘

In 2012, Pranab Mukherjee became the President of the country. He was the 13th President of India. However, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s first choice for the post was Hamid Ansari. But Mukherjee was the choice of many regional political parties. It also showed that despite political differences Pranab Mukherjee had acceptance among all political parties.
