Sad Demise:The former Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh has died after battling Kidney ailment in Singapore

Amar Singh, a former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader who has been fighting from his disease for a long time, has died at the age of 64.

Amar Singh (27th Jan 1956 to 1st August 2020) was an Indian Politician of the Samajwadi Party from Uttar Pradesh. On 1st August 2020, he died at the age of 64 while treatment of Kidney ailment in Singapore.

Amar Singh, a former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader who has been battling his disease for a long time, has died at the age of 64. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore for the past six months due to illness. Amar Singh, once considered to be one of the highly reputed leaders of Uttar Pradesh, was among those close to Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was the head of the Samajwadi Party.

Amar Singh was currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh. He was elected to the Upper House on 5 July 2016. After his split from the Samajwadi Party, he was not much active socially. However, he was growing closer to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before he became ill. His political journey began in 1996 with being elected a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Amar Singh had kept a distance from Samajwadi Party. Amar Singh, who was known as one of the closest people of Mulayam Singh Yadav, started to take the edge before 2017. In the clash between Shivpal Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav in the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav considered Amar Singh as a villain. Sometimes Akhilesh Yadav openly criticized Amar Singh.  Later Amar Singh also started appearing in BJP programs. He also announced to donate his entire assets to the RSS-linked organization.

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was quite active on social media despite the illness. He posted a video on 22 March, appealing to his fans to support PM Modi in the war against Coronavirus. Singh resigned from all posts of the Samajwadi Party on 6 January 2010. He was later expelled by the party. He launched his own party after leaving the Samajwadi Party. Singh’s political journey began with becoming a Rajya Sabha MP in 1996. He was also elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2002 and 2008.
