Mumbai: Yesterday Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommends CBI inquiry into the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. The Centre has reportedly given information to the Supreme Court that the Bihar Government’s recommendation for CBI inquiry into SSR Case has been accepted.

After considering the request of Sushant’s father KK Singh, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent a request to the center for CBI inquiry. The CBI, which comes under the Union Home Ministry, will now take over the probe. In an update on ANI, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on Wednesday stated before the Supreme Court that the Centre has accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation for a CBI probe. This progress also comes on the day that the apex court is hearing Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty’s petition seeking direction for a transfer of the investigation from Patna to Mumbai.

As per information, the lawyer representing Sushant Singh Rajput’s father has claimed in the Supreme Court that the “Maharashtra Police is destroying evidence in the case.”

Earlier, Rhea’s lawyer had said that the Bihar government cannot transfer the case related to the death of the late actor Sushant to the CBI as it does not have the right to investigate in the matter.

“There cannot be a transfer of the case as there is no legal basis for Bihar to get involved in the investigation of the case. At most, Bihar Police can register a Zero FIR and transfer it to the Mumbai Police from Patna. The transfer of a case on which they had no jurisdiction to the CBI has no legal sanctity,” lawyer of Rhea, told media persons.

Sushant Singh Rajput, aged 34, was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment at Bandra in Mumbai on June 14 and since then the Mumbai police have been probing the case keeping in mind different angles of the case.

Concurrently, a bench of Bombay High Court heard public interest litigation (PIL) consists of the transfer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today.

However, the Court has adjourned the hearing till August 7, after Maharashtra government informed it that it hasn’t received a copy of the PIL. The court directed the petitioner to give a copy of PIL to the state govt.
